I’m excited to share the progress of my latest project: a felted wool lamb sculpture that I named Curly, for obvious reasons. The challenge in this piece was creating the wool texture, which I did by hand-rolling the wool around a bamboo skewer and pouring boiling water over it. Then, I steamed the wool to set the shape.
It was a labor-intensive process, and I had to create over four dozen of these wool rolls to complete the piece. But the end result was worth it, as I’m really happy with how Curly is turning out.
I’m considering adding some horns to Curly, but I’m still not sure if I want to make them out of ceramic or another material. It’s something I’ll have to think about more.
Thanks for reading about my process! I hope you enjoyed learning about how I created Curly.
